Materials and printing

Board and print, side by side

Three boards and three ways to print on them. Every combination below is quoted the same way, so the choice is about how you want the packaging to feel in the hand.

Choose the board

White cone sleeve carrying a detailed multi-color illustration

White SBS cardstock

A bright, smooth sheet. Photography, gradients and fine type all hold their detail, and colors sit where the proof says they will.

Kraft cup sleeve printed with a coffee bean pattern in one ink

Natural kraft

Unbleached brown board. Ink sits into the surface rather than on top of it, which mutes bright colors and reads as craft and small-batch.

Recycled board cup sleeves printed with a simple leaf mark

Recycled board

Post-consumer fiber with a slight fleck through it. It takes a one or two color mark well and tells the customer what it is without a claim printed on it.

Choose how it prints

Cone sleeves printed edge to edge in full color with photographic artwork

Full-color CMYK

Four process inks. The right choice when the artwork is a photograph, an illustration or anything with a gradient in it.

Kraft coffee sleeves carrying a single-color logo mark

Single-color logo

One ink on plain board. It is the least expensive way to print a run and, on kraft, it is often the better looking one.

Cake cone sleeve printed in a flat spot color with a scalloped border

Pantone spot colors

A mixed ink matched to a Pantone reference. Use it when a brand color has to be exact across every reprint.

What custom cone sleeves are, and when a shop needs them

A cone sleeve is a printed paper wrap that slides over an ice cream, waffle or crepe cone. It does three jobs at once: it insulates the hand from a cold cone, it absorbs the melt that runs down the outside, and it puts your name on something a customer carries through a busy street. That last one is why most shops order them — a sleeve is the cheapest advertising you will ever hand out, because the customer does the carrying.

The mistake almost every first-time buyer makes is ordering a stock size. Cones vary more than people expect: a waffle cone flares wide at the mouth, a sugar cone tapers the whole way down, and a cake cone has near-parallel walls. A wrap cut for one of them sits loose on another and staff quietly stop using it. That is why we build every dieline around the cone you actually serve, and why our guide tochoosing the right cone sleeve sizestarts with measuring rather than with a size chart.

Cone sleeves, jackets and wrappers are the same thing

Suppliers use different names for one product. Cone sleeve, cone jacket, cone wrapper and cone cover all describe the printed band that goes around the cone. If two quotes use two different words, you are still comparing like for like — check the board weight and the finish instead, because that is where real differences hide.

What changes the price of a run

Three things move a quote more than anything else: how many you order, how many separate designs you want, and whether the sleeve is laminated. Quantity is the big one, because the press setup cost is the same whether you print 500 or 5,000 — which is exactly why volume pricing starts at 1,000 pieces. Splitting one order across four flavors means four designs and four minimums, so it costs more than one design at the same total quantity.

Board choice matters less than people assume. Kraft, white SBS and recycled board sit close together, and the recyclable uncoated option is usually the cheapest of the lot. Our guide onminimums, lead times and storageworks through the arithmetic with real run sizes.

Beyond cones

The same press and the same board run everything else served by hand. Burgers, subs, hot dogs, donuts and hot cups all take a printed band, and open trays cover the items that will not sit in one. If you are working out which format suits what you serve, thefull food sleeve range lays the options out side by side.

FAQs

Ordering custom sleeves, answered

What is a cone sleeve?

A cone sleeve is a printed paper wrap that slides onto an ice cream or crepe cone. It insulates the hand, absorbs drips as the cone melts, and carries your branding on the outside where every passer-by sees it.

What is the minimum order?

Five hundred pieces per design across every product we print. That is low enough for a single shop to test artwork or run one seasonal flavor, and volume pricing begins at 1,000 pieces.

How long does printing take?

Six to seven business days after you approve the digital proof, with a three to four day rush available. Proofing usually adds a day, so most first orders are complete inside two weeks.

Do you charge for artwork or proofs?

No. Dieline setup, design support and the digital proof are all included. Nothing goes to press until you have seen the proof and approved it in writing.

Which board do you print on?

White SBS cardstock for bright, full-color work, natural kraft for a warm artisan look, and recycled board where sustainability leads. All three are food safe and print well.

Do you ship outside the United States?

Yes. Most orders go to US ice cream shops, cafes and kitchens, but we print and ship worldwide with tracking. International transit is added to the production window.
